Cancel the velvet bonds

that entangle me,

cords of my own making

and cultural norms

that cut me off at the knees.

Cancel the voices

that say nay, and

who do you think you are?

I won’t listen.

Why NOT me?

Cancel the cry

of my heart

that I am not enough.

I AM.

Because the One

who designed me is

enough. Always.

I will never submit

to the voices who cry

cancel, even my own.

that shackle me.
