Have you ever noticed cardinals in winter, especially when their bright plumage darts across a snowy landscape? Cardinals are non-migratory birds; they stay put when winter rolls in. How do they survive? With a little help from their friends - us and each other.

Did you know?

• While territorial during mating/nesting season, in winter they flock together, nest together for warmth, guard together against predators, and hunt for available nuts, berries, insects together (and bird feeders - that’s where we come in!)
• A group of cardinals is called a conclave, college, radiance or a Vatican of cardinals.
• In cold weather, cardinals fluff out their feathers, trapping warm air between the layers to keep them warm.

People aren’t much different. It’s easy to be self sufficient in the good seasons, but during life’s harsh bits, we need each other — our “conclave of cardinals.”

Be a repairer of the breach and restorer of paths to dwell in. I have equipped you and called you for such a time as this.
